2013 has been a great year for football in this country. The Hyundai A-League has had record numbers at their games, and the competition is starting to really infiltrate some of the major sporting codes here. What’s even more incredible is the latest team to enter the competition The Western Sydney Wanderers is not only top of the table, but has probably one of the most loyal fan bases in the league. A pretty monumental achievement for their maiden year.

It was my first time shooting them on the weekend and I was completely blown away by the amount of supporters they had considering it wasn’t even their home game and the weather was atrocious. They won 1-0 against the Central Coast Mariners, but both teams played their hearts out. On the sports photography side of things, it was also one of the wettest games I’ve shot since, well since last weekend. The amount of rain we’ve had in my part of the world of late has been incredible, but it’s made for some great football. You can check out more of my shots here: A-League Rd 23 Central Coast Mariners v Western Sydney Wanderers but the above image just summed up the night for me. I’d be bloody proud of my team if I was a WSW supporter.
